Day 108 / 366

People say that life is full of ups and downs. But what they don’t tell you is how frequent those ups and downs can be. You might have days where you can go through all possible human emotions in less than 12 hours. Today was that sort of day for me.

I was happy this morning as my brand-new M2 Mac mini was finally delivered. While I love any new piece of electronics, this one is pretty special as my Grandma paid for it as a gift for my new office. But my happiness was short-lived as my mouse stopped working. Now this is no ordinary mouse; it's the Logitech MX Master. I love it, even though it was around 7000 bucks.

Something you should know about me is that there are few things in life I love more than my gadgets. And when one of them stops working, I stop functioning as well. And so the dead mouse ruined my day.

A few hours later I had a used fridge delivered that I had bought for my office. I had already paid for it before I realized that it was missing a freezer door as well as the inside light. I called the seller to get it fixed but he kept putting it off. I lost my cool and got into a screaming fight with him on the phone. Those who know me, know that I have a really bad anger problem.

I decided it was not worth it, and I could just get it repaired myself tomorrow. I was excited to come back home and use my new Mac mini, but my mouse was still broken. But then I remembered, after all, I am an engineer. I am sure I could open this mouse and fix it.

So several Youtube videos and 6 screws later, I somehow got the mouse working again. And doing so reminded me just how much I love tinkering with stuff. That was the reason I had gotten into engineering, but since I work with software now, I hardly get to do it anymore. Regardless, I am glad that I still got it.

It was a rough day, but I made it through it. As they say, all's well that ends well!
