Why you should write every day
Day 314 / 365
Even before I had this blog, I used to write a lot. It’s like therapy for me. Some people like to go for a walk when they are faced with a tough problem that they need to think about. Some go and discuss it with friends. I have always found that the best way for me to tackle a challenge is to get a pen and paper and start writing.
I think that most people can benefit from a daily writing habit. It doesn’t have to be a public blog, it could be a journal or a diary as well.
First thing is, it reduces the clutter in your head. You could be at the quietest place in the world, but if your mind is not at peace, you would not feel calm. Everyone’s multi-tasking today, worrying about their job, their dream (which is often different than their jobs) and their relationships. If you try to keep it all in your head and still function normally, it can get overwhelming quite quickly.
If you take a pen and paper, or maybe your laptop and start to pen your thoughts down, you would feel the difference right away. You will get to know more about yourself. You will realize what things are more important to you. Otherwise, you would just continue living life on an auto-pilot mode.
Writing your goals is helpful as well. People who write their goals down are more likely to achieve them. Once you write down what you want to do on a piece of paper, it becomes something physical, something concrete. It’s no more just an idea in your head. So you honor it more.
So I think that everyone should give writing a shot. Create a google doc and just write down anything that’s bothering you right now. This would hardly take 5 minutes of your day, but trust me it will reap great benefits in the future.
