Why start a Business
Day 47 / 365
I have always wanted to be rich. I don’t shy away from it, it’s a fact that the reason I worked hard at school, at college, or at my jobs was so that I can earn more money. The ultimate goal was to have enough money so that I can retire by the time I am 30.
When I was younger, the path to becoming rich that I had in mind was simple. Study hard, get good grades, and get hired into a big company that would pay you a nice salary. There were other ways as well, for instance, becoming a famous person, like a YouTuber. But I know that I had no luck there, so I stuck to the conventional route.
My perspective totally changed when I came across a tweet that tried to explain how much money a “billion dollars” is.
Say you earn 5000 dollars every day. That’s an annual salary of almost 2 Million Dollars! If you were able to save every penny of it, you will still need more than 500 years to save up to a billion dollars!
You can work your ass off for decades, taking that 10–20% increment each year, making the CEO of your company billions of dollars. But you yourself wouldn’t even get close to it. Moreover, As your salary increases slowly, so do your expenses. People would live paycheck to paycheck, even after they get a raise.
You can never work yourself into becoming a billionaire. That’s why if you want to make that kind of money, you would need to start something of your own. You will need to make your money work for you.
