When the going gets tough

Day 318 / 365

I really like this particular saying by former US President John F Kennedy.

“When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”

When things are going bad, the weak would resort to complaining. But the winners know that there is only one way to get out of a tough situation, to take action. And so the tough gets going.

Failures and hardships have one thing in common. When you don’t face them, you would surely fear them, even if it's just a little bit. You would build them up in your heads and make up all sorts of scenarios about how you will be screwed if you fail.

But if you do get into trouble, you would realize that it is manageable. There is no obstacle that’s unsurmountable if you try hard enough. You just have to keep at it.

Confucius was a Chinese philosopher more than 2500 years ago, yet his teachings continue to inspire people today. Here’s one of his quotes about failure

“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

So that’s one way of looking at the bright side of things I guess. Next time you are in a bad place, see it as a challenge, not as a misfortune.
