Day 165 / 365

Reddit is a great place for you to just lose hours and hours of your day just scrolling and gaining nothing. But you could use it to your advantage as well. There are lots of groups on Reddit around self-help, where people ask questions and give tips on topics or procrastination, weight loss, time management, depression and many many more. r/getdisciplined is one such place, where today I found this post —

It’s a great little exercise. Think that you are the hero in a movie or in a novel, and look at your own life from an outsider’s perspective. What advise will you give yourself?

Something that my father used to tell me which is quite similar is that you can’t find a solution to a problem until you step outside of it. When you keep thinking about the problem, you’ll just make it worse. But if you take a step back, look at everything objectively and start focusing on the solution, more often than not you’ll find one.

You would find that you would always be great when you are giving advice to other people. But you would find yourself making the same mistakes, thus not listening to the same advice you tell others.

I think we all should take some to this little exercise. What problem is your character stuck in? And why don’t they just ____..
