What could have been
Day 132 / 365
I want you to try out a little exercise for me. Think back to the year 2017, and answer the following questions
Where were you back then?
Were you comfortable with life or were you struggling? Rate the state of mind you had back then on a scale of 10. Would you say you were happy?
Where did you want to be?
List down the goals you had back then, both short term and long term. In 2017, what were your aspirations for you for the next 2 years? and did you live up to them?
The answer to the last one will most definitely be no. None of us is perfect. None of us got to the exact place we wanted to get to. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is your answer to this next question
What could you have done differently?
List down the reasons you think you failed. There must be cases when you didn’t prioritize your goals when you got careless. If you think hard enough you’ll realize that all these little mishaps have a big combined effect in the long term.
The reason why the last question is important is, now you can imagine yourself not repeating those same mistakes in the next two years. How great would 2021 be! The things you will be able to achieve. Because now you know where you lack, and you’ll work towards fixing each and every one of them.
“We all make mistakes, have struggles, and even regret things in our past. But you are not your mistakes, you are here now with the power to shape your day and your future.”
