We can work it out
Day 173 / 366
Try to see it my way
Do I have to keep on talking ’til I can’t go on?
While you see it your way
Run the risk of knowing that our love may soon be gone
We can work it out
We can work it out
There won’t be many life situations for which you won’t be able to find an appropriate Beatles song. Whenever I have a fight with someone, their song “We Can Work It Out” starts playing in my head. And that makes me realize how stupid it is to fight with someone you care about.
Why do people fight so much? I have a theory. I think every one of us just wants to be heard. As kids, the only way we knew to make someone take us seriously was to cry, make a scene, shout, and complain. Maybe that becomes a habit that continues even when we grow up. We just want the other person to hear us, to acknowledge our feelings.
I have really bad anger issues. I read somewhere that staying mad at someone is like drinking poison and wishing that the other person will suffer. In the end, we only end up hurting ourselves. I try to tell myself this every now and then. And I try not to hold as many grudges as I used to. Forgive and forget. I feel much happier living with that motto.
Less fighting, and more love. That’s what the world needs right now.
Life is very short
And there’s no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend
I have always thought that it’s a crime
So I will ask you once again
