Using AI to get better at English
Day 3 / 365
A year ago I built a WhatsApp chatbot that could turn any phrase written in any language into perfect English. I wrote a blog about it as well
It was received well and got around 1000 users in a week. And it was growing organically, people were sharing it with their friends. It still has lots of active users today.
Unfortunately, I did not make any money from it. In fact, it costs me around 100 dollars a month to run it. Most of it is WhatsApp messaging cost.
So I decided I should use my newfound Streamlit skills to shift this app to the web, saving me a lot of money.
You can check it out here —

The advantage of making it a web app is that now I can add more features to it. For instance, while some people used this just to translate texts they want to send to their friends, or something they want to comment on a photo, many used this to improve the English in their official communication like emails.
So I added an option for the user to choose the tone they want the translation to be in —
I plan to slowly switch the existing users to this and maybe turn the WhatsApp version into a paid app.
