Day 1 / 365

2024 is here, and I am yet again going to attempt to write something daily as a resolution. 2019 was the first and last time I succeeded in doing so, but I have a good feeling about this year.

I was talking to a friend today about how I want to start writing blogs again, and he suggested it should be easy now to do with ChatGPT. And he is not wrong. In one year, AI has made a significant impact on the internet. A lot of content that you see is AI-generated, or at least assisted by AI.

I have over 500 blogs on Medium, so it would be easy to train an LLM to write blogs in my style. But the point of this exercise was never to just write good blogs for people to read. Most of the blogs have views in single digits. Many still have 0 views.

My intention behind writing this blog was that it forces me to try and learn something new every day. And the best way to confirm that you have learned something well is by trying to explain it to someone. This forced me to look out for things throughout the day in everything I consumed, to find out something that would be worth learning and writing a blog about.

So yes, I won’t be using any AI to write this blog. Instead, this year I have decided to write about AI. Instead of just writing about anything, I want to follow a theme. And I can’t think of a better option right now than AI.

Whenever possible, I will also try to create something, maybe a video or an app or a website to showcase what I have learned as well.

To start off, here’s an Instagram Caption Generator that I built using OpenAI APIs, just upload a photo and fill in some details about the kind of caption you want, and it will generate 4 options for you —

So here’s hoping for another year filled with learning!
