Day 295 / 365

Coca Cola was created almost 130 years back, by one Dr. John Pemberton. He told the recipe of the syrup to least 4 people before he died, in 1888. After that, Asa Candler purchased the rights to the recipe in 1891, and that recipe has since been one of the most guarded secrets ever.

There is only one written copy of the coca-cola formula, and it’s kept behind a vault!

Who knows the recipe now?

At any given point, only two employees are allowed to know the recipe, and they are not allowed to travel together. If one of them dies, the other one is supposed to choose a successor.

And who are these two employees? Obviously there identity is kept a secret as well.

What’s Coca Cola made of then?

The drink was originally named Coca Cola because it consisted of extracts from the coca leaves and caffeine from kola nuts. Due to health regulations, it can’t use any of those ingredients now. Although we have no way to know for sure, many have speculated that it gets its taste primarily from Vanilla and cinnamon.
