The Metamorphosis
Day 153 / 366
I finished reading “The Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka last week for my book club. And I can safely say it is the craziest book I have read this year. The premise of the story is crazy. I guy wakes up one morning and finds out that he has transformed into a giant insect. And then as the story goes on we see how this has a toll on his and more importantly his family’s life.
I am not great at book reviews, so I am not sure how to talk about this one without giving away too many spoilers. But I want everyone to read this book, so I’ll try and convince you to give it a try.
Firstly, if you are not a reader, this one could be a good start, as it is a really quick read. It is less than 100 pages, and the writing style is not too complex either. You can easily finish reading it in a day.
Secondly, this is the kind of book that will surely provoke some emotions in you. It’s not something that you just read once to pass the time and forget about. It will stay with you long after you read it. You will have so many questions and so many profound realizations.
And even though the book came out more than a century ago, the ideas it covers are relatable even today. Of all the books we have discussed in our little book club so far, we had the strongest opinions about this one. And it is the shortest book we have read by a long margin!
This book has motivated me to check out more of Kafka’s work.
