The M2 Mac Mini
Day 109 / 366
I wrote in my last blog that I had bought a new M2 Mac Mini. I have been wanting to try this for the longest time but never could justify it since I already had a MacBook Pro. But now that I finally have it, I am so happy that it lived up to my expectations.
The Mac Mini is basically just a CPU, in a really sleek and compact form factor. It does not come with any peripherals, which means that you need to buy a screen, a keyboard, and a mouse separately. But that also means that it is way cheaper than buying a MacBook, and you get the same processing power, if not better.
I already had a spare screen, keyboard, and trackpad, so it was no extra cost for me to set it up and get it running.
I added the speakers just because I had some lying around, but it's not needed as the Mac Mini comes with built-in speakers.
When it comes to performance, in my opinion, it does much better than a MacBook. This is because it has a much bigger fan and so it cools better. I am no expert when it comes to reviews, but I can say that my MacBook Pro heats up like crazy when I try to build React Native apps with it, and I have to put my AC on to prevent it from crashing. This Mac Mini, on the other hand, didn’t heat up at all and compiled code faster.
So far this purchase has been worth every penny of it. And it’s extremely affordable as well. If portability is not an issue for you, I think you should go for the Mac Mini as your next computer.
