The Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Day 277 / 366
The BCCI just released a trailer for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is set to start in 50 days. As a cricket fan, this has been the series that I have grown up watching and adored. Back in 2007–08 this was was first Test Match series that I ever watched.
India was never great overseas. And beating Australia in Australia was unfathomable. I remember in the first series that I watched, India won just a single match at Perth. Even though they lost the series 2–1, that win was celebrated. I still have the image in my mind of Harbhajan Singh running on the ground waving the Indian Flag.
The timing of the series was not ideal. Matches would start around 4 AM Indian time. Yet, I would still wake up early to watch the first session before I had to leave for school. Even though India lost, I watched each and every ball that I could.
But things have changed now, India has beaten Australia in their home for the last 2 series. And the last time was an absolute epic, with half the Indian Team injured, and their net bowlers coming into the side. It was one of the best series that I have ever watched. Which is why I am excited for this series to start again. And I’ll still watch each and every ball.
