The Art of Happiness
Day 64 / 366
In most movies and TV Shows, in the end, the hero always wins. When we watch these movies, and the hero gets into trouble, we are scared for him but still excited, because we know he will make it out of it somehow. In fact, the bigger the problem is, the more exciting it is to watch.
I wonder why we don’t think of our own lives this way. If only we could believe that whatever happens, happens for our best. And that in the end, things will fall into place and everything will be fine. If only we could get excited when facing problems in our lives. Because we know that in the end, we are going to win.
I have been writing in a journal regularly since I was 13. When I go and read back about the times that I was struggling, I can see how hopeless I was at those times, and how I thought things would never get better. But I know now in hindsight that in the end I was more than capable of dealing with the bad times, and even when I wasn’t, things just worked themselves out with time. Whenever I am going through tough times now, I try to remind myself that even though this feels like the worst life has ever gotten, I have proof that is not the case. And even though I feel helpless, I know I can deal with whatever life throws at me.
I know that just like me, you would also have gone through hell sometimes in your life. And the fact that you are reading this means that you made it out of it alive. Things have always worked out in the past, so it’s only wise to believe that they will work out in the future as well. When you know the ending is going to be good, there is no point in getting worried about the present.
Exams will come and go and whatever the result is you will figure something out.
You might have trouble finding a job now but eventually, you will.
You might be angry at someone who broke your heart but one day you will wake up and realise you don’t care anymore.
You might be sick but you will get better soon enough.
It does get better. So trust the process and keep doing the best you can.
