Some of my value-for-money purchases

Day 155 / 366

I was listening to an interview/podcast today and found one of the questions interesting.

What is something under Rs 5000 that you purchased that has changed your life?

I never like to spend money on myself. Yet there are a few things that I have purchased that I never regretted buying. These won’t fall in the “under 5k” category, but I think they are still worth listing down.

Redragon K599

This is my keyboard of choice. It’s the first mechanical keyboard I have owned. I bought it over 2 years ago, and have used it daily ever since. It’s an absolute joy to type on. At 4200 Rs, it's a steal. I really believe that when we look at things we will be using each and every day, we should go for quality and not cost. For both coding as well as writing, I need to type. So it is important for me to have a Keyboard that I enjoy typing on.

My Kindle

I think every reader should have a Kindle. I have nothing against physical books, in fact, I love them. But it’s not like you have to choose one or the other. A Kindle removes so much of the friction that comes with maintaining a reading habit. It’s easy to carry, has amazing battery life and you can get books instantly. The first Kindle I bought was in college, and it was 4000 Rs. I still have that one, but last year I upgraded to a better version which cost me 15k. But I think it’s totally worth it.

A pull-up bar

I was trying hard to think of a product that I could include that is not an electronic gadget, and I think this pull-up bar I purchased last year is a great example. When I started working out at home I needed a way to do pull-ups and chin-ups, and I gave this 1500 Rs non-brand product a try. And it exceeded my expectations. It is easy to install and supports up to 100 kg weight easily.
