Some good uses of AI?

The AI hype is slowly dying down. There have been some good uses of AI, I am working on some freelance projects that utilize LLMs in a really good way. But it is not even slightly close to the future that people predicted at the beginning of 2023.

I recently gave Github Copilot a try, and while it won’t be replacing developers anytime soon, I still think it is a good use of AI. It’s like a slightly more intelligent auto-complete, and I will admit that it has helped me save time.

Another good use case I came across today on twitter is this one

So apparently, there are companies in China that use AI to recreate people from old photos and then generate videos of you with them. I think this is truly a wholesome use of AI. I never got a chance to meet my grandfather. He died when my dad was 17. And I would love to create a video of me with him.

I remember also seeing people using AI tools to recreate the voices of people who have passed away. These are the kinds of things I want AI to be used for. For bringing happiness into people's lives. Not by making them live in fear that their jobs and livelihood might be gone soon.
