Singing Crowds

One of the best things about listening to live music is the experience of singing along to the same song with 1000s of other people. Each person isolated might sound badly out of tune, but for some reason, when all these voices combine it becomes something beautiful.

Some of my favorite videos on youtube are those of crowds singing along to a song. In some cases, the crowd is so loud that you can’t even hear the musicians. For instance, this happened when slash came to Mumbai and performed the guns and roses classic — Sweet child o’ mine.

Fun Fact, a few of my friends actually went to this concert, and I didn’t. I still regret it.

In some cases, it is not so organic. There was a group of 1000 musicians that performed Foo Fighter’s — Learn To Fly, with the aim of convincing the band to come and have a concert in their city. Even though this was choreographed, the end result was still epic -

And there are many such examples. Know a song that you like? Just search for a live performance of it on youtube. You will surely enjoy it more than the studio version.
