Reading and Writing
Day 67 / 366
I read in a tweet today -
Reading is like collecting the dots. Writing is connecting them.
And I couldn’t agree more. Reading and Writing are supposed to be a collective task, each one depending on the other.
Writing often prompts us to read more, to fill in the gaps in our understanding, or to seek out new dots that can help us make better, more intricate connections.
Similarly, reading can inspire us to write, to share our reactions, thoughts, and the connections our minds have discovered.
I have seen it myself that when I have not been reading a lot I have trouble writing these blogs. And when I do read, whether it is fiction or non-fiction, ideas keep coming to me all day about what I can write about.
Our lives are so complicated these days. Both reading and writing give us a chance to slow down. Things appear so much simpler. It gives us time to engage with ourselves, our thoughts, and our ideas.
I think most people read, but really few have a writing habit as well. And that needs to change.
