My most viewed blogs

I have been writing on Medium since 2019, and thanks to these daily writing challenges I have now written 781 blogs. Most of these are low-effort blogs, so it’s not a surprise that they don’t get that many views. In fact there are still a few blogs from 2019 that are at 0 views!

But it is not something that bothers me. Getting views was never the goal for me. This was more of an exercise in discipline. However, it still feels nice when a blog gets a lot of views. And usually, these are blogs that I never thought would get views.

So today I thought I would look at my Medium stats and see which blogs were the most popular.

The re-discovery of Arthashastra

I wrote this on 26th Jan 2019, so it was within the first month of my blog. This is longer than my blogs these days, and I remember putting significant effort into it as well. If you google “Discovery of Arthashastra” the blog appears on the first page.

The second most viewed blog is this one

Why rice fields are flooded with water

This was definitely a low-effort one. But I guess that the topic is generic enough that people are somehow stumbling onto it through Google.

I guess if I ever wanted to make a popular blog, I would study the blogs that performed well and why, and then try to replicate it. Maybe that could be a challenge for another year.
