Man Vs. Wild
How a man was kept hostage by a Bear for 30 days
Day 178 / 365
What is your worst nightmare? Is it being a soldier captured and tortured by the enemy? I’ll do you one better, how about being captured by a wild animal? And not just any animal, but a big brown bear! That’s exactly the story I have for you today.
A Russian man was recently rescued from the bear’s den. Bear’s are known to bury the animals they hunt so that they can use them as food later. So this bear has captured this man, severely hurt him, dragged him into his den and then just left him there. Bears do this to hide their food from other bears as well as to allow the meat some time to “ripen”.
A group of hunters found him and rushed him to the hospital. Although they didn’t have much hope for him and had assumed he was just a mummified dead body. But the man shocked everyone. Not only was he alive, but he was able to talk and slightly move his arms as well.
He told the doctors that his name is Alexander, but he didn’t remember his age. He also told that he had been trapped in the cave for about 30 days and that he survived by drinking his own urine. Even the local medics say it’s a miracle that he was able to survive for so long with these injuries in the wild.
Although the man is still in critical condition, he is receiving appropriate medical treatment.
