Life is short

Day 73 / 366

If a game never ended, would you enjoy playing it, or even watching it? It would be kind of pointless, wouldn’t it?

I have always wanted to believe that within my lifetime, science would figure out immortality. That people will be able to live forever, either in their bodies or maybe in a computer. But it begs the question. Would you value life, and your day-to-day experiences as much, if you knew all of this would never end?

All good things come to an end. Nothing is permanent. That is the most important piece of philosophy everyone should understand. But you could look at it positively as well. When you know things and people that you love are not going to be around forever, you would cherish it all more.

I don’t know why so many people, myself included, always postpone happiness for the future. In my mind, a version of me exists in the future, who is living a content and happy life, doing whatever he wants to do. And so I don’t believe I can be happy at the moment since things are not perfect yet. But in reality, I am choosing to let valuable days of my life go by and choosing to spend them in misery.

For me personally, I don’t know exactly what it is that would make me feel content or happy. So I guess I am still figuring out this phase of my life. But to those out there who know something that would make them happy, but are just not taking action, please remember — Life is short. Go grab your happiness while you still can.
