Javascript for beginners
Day 224 / 366
I have built a lot of stuff over the years. Some projects I put a lot of effort and planning into but it ends up nowhere. And then there are some things that I just do for fun that ends up having the most impact. Even with this blog, some of my most viewed posts are ones that I just wrote in 5 minutes without thinking much about it.
Why am I thinking about this today? It is because around 3 years ago I wrote a series of Javascript tutorials for a friend who wanted to learn coding. Since they were completely new to programming, I had to write the tutorials in a way that was easy for a beginner to understand. At the same time, I wanted it to be engaging and fun. The result was this series of 24 part tutorial series —
I never intended for this to be out in the public. I forgot about it for 2 years, until I started my own company. Now every new intern that starts at Blaziken, their first task is to finish this tutorial. And I have always gotten great feedback about it. And if anyone asks me about how to get started with coding, I send them this very series.
Something that I made on a whim, has now gotten a lot of people interested in coding. And that is the kind of impact I like the stuff I build to have.
If you are ever curious about programming and want to find out if it's the right thing for you, make sure to give this tutorial a try.
