It all adds up
Day 99 / 365
People don’t achieve success overnight. Its a journey, and it requires discipline day after day. Same goes for failures as well. People don’t put on weight over a few days, relationships don’t get bitter in a fortnight. More often than not things go bad gradually as well.
Every day we face small decisions, which don’t have an immediate effect on our lives. A happy meal from MacDonald’s won’t make you fat. Not choosing to eat it won’t make you fit instantly as well. This is why we don’t give much thought to such decisions.
What we don’t realize is that the effects of such small decisions add up.
If you continue eating a little junk food for a year, you will surely put on some weight.
If you continue saying no to it for a year, your health will surely improve.
This principal applies to all aspects of our lives, whether its your job, your studies or your relationships. You need to become aware of the little things that you are ignoring.
Pick up little daily habits
- Read 10 pages of a good book
- Drink a glass of water when you wake up
- Do some stretching, about 5 minutes, in the morning and before you go to bed
All these won’t take up much of your time. And you won’t see any immediate effects either. But in the long run, these will help you a lot.
