Day 161 / 366

The India-Pakistan World Cup match is going on right now, and I am watching it on the side as I write this blog. This is a surprise to me because during the IPL I decided that I will not watch any more cricket. And before that during the 2023 World Cup, I made a similar decision. But there is something about this fixture, about these two teams that make me forget all my principles and beliefs. So here I am, getting my hopes up again, supporting India.

I started watching cricket a bit late as compared to other kids in India. My first match was the T20 match between India and Pakistan back in 2007, the one that ended in a bowlout.

Then there was the match a few years back, at Melbourne. Where Virat Kohli hit 2 sixes off the last 2 balls of the 19th over, and somehow India snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

So these teams just find ways to make things interesting. And this is why this rivalry has survived for so long. Pakistan was supposed to be a weak team, they lost to the USA a few days back. Yet as I write this, they have India at 95–5. Typical Pakistan.

So yes, I tried not to be, but I am invested now. I just hope this one ends well.
