Day 123 / 366

When we were kids, we used to think that adults had it all figured out. And that when we grow up, everything will make sense to us as well. Now that I am approaching 30, I am slowly realizing that -

A. I am not a kid anymore, and

B. I do not have shit figured out, and nor does anyone else as well.

There are so many things that we never learn when we are kids. And as adults, we just have to figure them out somehow. I have no idea how to properly defrost a fridge, but for the past 4–5 years of owning a fridge, I have had to figure out how to on my own. To this date, I have no clue what I am doing.

Just before writing this blog, I was in my kitchen using a hammer, and a big chef’s knife as a chisel and carving away the ice in my freezer so that I can throw it out. I know that if I just let it melt on its own, the kitchen will get flooded overnight. Surely there must be a better way to do this. But no one ever taught me, so I don’t know.

It’s a huge pain every time, and every time I say to myself that I will now defrost the fridge every 2 weeks or so. But every time, I forget it for months.

As kids, adults seemed like superheroes to me. They could do things we couldn’t. Whenever you get stuck somewhere, a grown-up will always help you out.

Now I understand that adults are just children that have aged, who still don’t know everything but they just have to figure things out on their own.
