Day 1 / 365

New year's day is always sacred for me. While most people loathe the idea of resolutions, I love them. January 1st feels to me like I have been given a clean slate. One more chance to start afresh and bring about significant changes in my life.

4 years ago on this very day, I had an idea. I decided to put up a challenge for myself, with 2 simple tasks

Write one blog post a day.

Read one book every week.

At the time, it didn’t feel so tough. I had an easy 9–5 job, I never worked after office hours and stayed up late watching Netflix and Youtube almost every day. I was confident I would finish the task easily, but boy was I wrong.

As the year went by, things got tougher. I switched jobs twice that year, each more challenging than the previous one. I started working on freelance projects on the side, and by the end of the year, I was working over 100 hours per week.

I went through a lot of ups and downs that year, but one thing remained constant. No matter what happened, I always put out a blog every day. I was able to achieve both my goals, and to this day I consider the 2019 version of myself to be the best one so far.

My Goals for 2023

It's been 4 years since, and I think I am way overdue for an upgrade. Here’s what I have in mind this time.

Create something every day. This could be anything — A youtube video, a blog, a coding tutorial, a website.

Read 75 books

If that sounds tough, it's because it's supposed to be. The only way it would be a success for me is if I am able to achieve something that feels bigger to me than what I did 4 years ago.

I am still not so sure what I can count as ‘creating’, but I guess I will figure it out as I go on. Whatever it will be, I’ll post it here every day.

I think I should better get started. Here’s to 2023!
