Hard work and sleepless nights

Day 131 / 366

This week was quite a stressful week for me. I was waking up around 6–7 AM to get some work done before I had to leave for the office. I would reach home by 8 and would continue working till I had to go to sleep around midnight. Sometimes there’s work to be done for a US client which means I need to stay up even later.

It’s 9 PM on a Friday night and I am still at work. And I can safely say that I haven’t felt this exhausted in a long long time. I would love to complain and feel sorry about myself, but then I am reminded of my sister. She is doing her PG in a medical college, and just yesterday she was telling me how last week she worked for over 140 hours. That included three 36-hour shifts! And all of that work in a hospital in Ujjain, not in an AC room like me.

There is no excuse for not working hard. We are all capable of it, just with time we get accustomed to a comfortable life. And comfort is the enemy of progress. If you are trying to improve, then every once in a while there will be a 100+ hour week. You just have to go through it.

One day, all of this hard work and sleepless nights will pay off.
