Day 198 / 366

Back when I started writing this blog in 2019, it was meant to be purely educational. So all day I used to look for interesting facts or stories online to write about. Lately, it has turned more into a self-help/philosophy sort of a blog. While watching a YouTube video today I came across an interesting fact, that the term “Gaslight” actually comes from the 1944 thriller movie by the same name.

The description of the movie says it all —

A man psychologically drives his wife insane which makes her have a nervous breakdown. However, he realises his wife is worth a lot and uses this as a means to become rich.

This led to me looking into some more facts that I could write a blog about, just like old times. On r/TodayILearned I found this gem —

Since 1945, when the nuclear bombs were dropped on Japan, our atmosphere has been polluted with nuclear isotopes. You need air, or oxygen to make steel. So if you need steel that has zero background radiation, you can’t create any new one. You need to find and recycle steel that was made before 1945, and sunken battleships from the wars are the best source for this. Isn’t that fascinating?
