Don’t take it easy
Day 133 / 366
I came across this nice post on Reddit today —
This is so true. So many choices I make when I just want to make things easier for me ends up making things tougher in the long run. For instance, ever since I started the office I gave up on exercise and healthy eating. My thinking was that if I allowed myself to eat junk food I might be a bit less frustrated and I could then focus all my energy on my company.
But it had the complete opposite effect. I found myself getting tired easily. I stopped reading as well, and that meant that I was getting all my entertainment from bad sources like reels and YouTube shorts.
This reminds me of the phrase — “Discipline is Freedom”
People often think that being disciplined means you are less free to do the things that you want, but they could not be more mistaken. If you are disciplined in the things that you have to do, you get to make more time to enjoy the things that you want to do later.
If you are good at focusing while you are working, and not getting distracted by your phone, you will be able to finish your work faster and then you will have time left over to relax without any guilt.
If you exercise regularly, you will be able to have the occasional junk food without it fucking up your day.
So this week I will try and get some discipline back into my life.
