Day 311 / 366

I wrote a few days back about how I was fully invested in the US 2024 Elections just for the entertainment factor. And if it was a reality show, the finale happened today. Donald Trump comfortably won both the electoral and the popular vote and is set to become the 47th president of the US.

People are calling it one of the best comeback stories in Politics, and they have every right to do so. While there have been presidents who have won multiple times, it’s only the second time that someone has done it in non-consecutive elections.

What’s interesting for me is that this election proves how mainstream media is not as influential anymore as people would like to believe. Kamala Harris had every big celebrity from Hollywood supporting her. Hell, they even had companies like Google, Meta and OpenAI on their side.

Trump on the other hand, did podcasts like Theo Von and Joe Rogan. These are comedians who support free speech and oppose the new woke propaganda. These are people who have been cancelled multiple times. And yet at the end of the day, they had a larger impact than Hollywood and Late Night shows.

At the end of the day, I don’t think Trump being the president would have any immediate effect on my life. But it was definitely an interesting event to follow.
