Doctor’s recommending cigarettes and radioactive energy drinks
Day 244 / 365
The more you start looking at history the more cases we find how stupid we were sometimes as a civilization. For instance, during the beginning of the 20th century when cigarettes were gaining popularity, even doctors recommended them, just like we have dentists who recommend toothpaste these days! Now every movie scene where someone is smoking must include a disclaimer about the dangers of smoking. In those days, there were advertizements with popular children cartoons like ‘The Filstones’ smoking!
One recent example I came across for this is an energy drink from the 1920s called RadiThor.
This drink was simply radium dissolved with water. Not only was this advertized as an energy drink, but the manufacturer even claimed that it could cure impotence. Needless to say, this product was a big hit.
Some of the users of this drink had to be buried in lead coffins as their bodies had become so radioactive.
All this just makes me wonder what are we doing right now that the humans from 2100 laugh about?
