Dealing with failure
Day 213 / 366
Fear of failure is one of the biggest obstacles to success. Most people don’t start things because they are afraid that they will fail.
And it's not as if society is so accepting of failure. More than failure itself, what scares us is what people will think or say to us. We don’t want to be perceived as a failure.
But the fact is that failure is a part of life. As they say, failure is the first step to success. You learn from your mistakes and then you improve. And slowly you move closer to your goal. Sounds simple right? Well, some things are easier said than done.
I remember when I was young, the very reason I avoided trying new things was that I was afraid of failure. I stuck to the things I knew, I stayed in my comfort zone. And obviously, there is never any growth in the comfort zone. As I grew up, I fortunately realized this and changed the way I thought about failure.
Failure is not the end, it’s an opportunity to find out your weaknesses, work on them, and become better. You learn more from failure than you do from success. Whatever bad feelings you get after you fail, will be temporary. But the learnings from it would be permanent.
