Dead Ideas

You get an idea in your head.

You think about it for a minute.

You imagine executing the idea, you imagine succeeding.

You imagine all the glory that comes with that success.

… and then you go back to watching another youtube video, or scrolling Instagram, or whatever mindless activity you spend most of your life doing.

Does that chain of events sound familiar? I have this go on in my head about a dozen times each day, and I am sure I am not the only one who goes through this.

Ideas that are amazing in your head, yet are never acted upon. I call them Dead Ideas.

As Joe Rogan said, there is only one way to achieve your goals. Write that shit down, and get working on it. This is something I have tried a lot of times. Whenever some interesting idea, however absurd, comes into my head. I write it down. Either on my phone or in a notebook.

What do I do with these ideas? Well, every once in awhile I’ll have those days when I am too lazy and unmotivated to do anything. Instead of just sitting there and rewatching old youtube videos, I would sometimes re-read these written ideas. And some of these ideas would seem more and more interesting after every read. These are the ideas that I usually end up taking some action on.

Ideas in your head are destined to become dead ideas. That is until you write them down. Then they are already really, as they have a physical presence. Those are the ones that have any chance of survival.
