ChatGPT API is now available

We are just 2 months into 2023, and AI is showing no signs of stopping. With the unbelievable growth of ChatGPT, people started using the already existing GPT-3 model provided by OpenAI to create their own API applications. I was one of them as well, using it to make my Whatsapp Bot.

But these were never as good as ChatGPT since it used a newer and better model, which OpenAI didn't release to the public.

That changed yesterday, the model gpt-3.5-turbo was released by OpenAI. This model is the one that's used in ChatGPT and is optimized for conversations. The best part is that even though it's much better and faster than the older model, it’s still 10 times cheaper!

I was quick to upgrade my existing WhatsApp bot to the new model. But I want to use it to create something new. Perhaps I’ll give it a go tonight. I want to build something conversational, and maybe something that can be used as an educational tool.

The biggest learning from the Whatsapp bot was that WhatsApp API is really costly! So I will either go with Telegram or just a normal Android app this time.

One thing is clear, AI is not just a fad. It’s here to stay. Moreover, the rate at which it is becoming better and cheaper, its soon going to be everywhere.
