Centenarians
Day 352 / 365
Everyone wants to live to be over 100 years old, at least that’s what I think. But 100+-year-old people are not as common as you might think. As of 2012, there are 316,600 such people living right now. There is even a fancy term for them, Centenarians.
Lots of researchers have tried to interview these people, to study them and find out the secret of their old age. Who doesn’t want to learn how to postpone death as much as possible? They haven’t found anything concrete yet. We have centenarians who lived an active and healthy life. But on the other hand, we have people like Agnes Fenton, who lived 111 years and drank a glass of whiskey and 3 beers daily for the last 70 of those years!
Although one thing all of them had in common was that they were all quite happy and content. They were resilient, they witnessed a lot of changes in the world around them. They lost a lot of loved ones. But they still adapted and moved on with life.
Here’s what Gertrude Weaver’s (aged 116) advice is for living a long life
“Treat people right and be nice to other people the way you want them to be nice to you”
