Beyblade and Pokemon

Music is so nostalgic. It’s so easy for a tune or a song to just transport you back in time. Today as I was listening to songs on shuffle from an old playlist, I came across an old favourite of mine, a song from the Beyblade anime —

It would seem cringe now, but I used to listen to songs from Beyblade, Pokemon, Dragonball etc. to hype myself up. Whether it was running that last 500 meters, or pulling an all-nighter to finish a project, these songs would always provide me with a boost of motivation.

These shows have defined my childhood. The best part of my day when I was a kid used to be 5 PM — 6 PM, every weekday. Where I would watch Pokemon and Beyblade back to back on Cartoon Network. I used to collect Pokemon Cards, and of course, play with Beyblades. So listening back to that song brought a smile to my face.

I spent the rest of the auto ride listening to more such songs that I remembered. This was a nice little 10 minutes of happiness in what has otherwise been a pretty shitty week.
