Becoming a Solopreneur

Day 54 / 365

I’ve been trying to figure out how to create something of my own. The goal for this year was to continue freelancing on the side, but put my main focus on creating a business or a product. So far, I have been struggling with it. But recently I found a few people on Twitter who had a similar goal as me and were successful in achieving it as well. So I’ve decided to look into their stories and learn from them.

There can be multiple approaches to creating a business.

You could create a services business. In my case, that would mean scaling my Freelance consulting business by hiring more people, training them, and getting them to do the actual work. While I have this option, I want to keep it as the last one.

I could get a product idea, a new app, a website, or some actual tech product. Once I get the Idea, I could develop a prototype and raise some funding, then hire people to build the product. But that’s not the only way to build a product.

What I learned from the few people I found on Twitter was that it's possible to build a profitable product without raising any money or hiring a team. You need to find a problem you can solve, and customers will be willing to pay you for the solution. Solopreneur is the term used for people who build businesses this way.

Out of all the options, this one sounds the most exciting to me, and that's the one I want to focus on for now.
