An Ultra Marathon
Day 151 / 365
When you think of tough races, marathons and triathlons come to mind. The Ironman Triathlon is famous for being quite tough, with a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and a then a full marathon (26.22-mile)
But these crazy races don’t stop here. There’s a class of competitions which are on another level. These are Ultramarathons, and one particularly tough one in this category is the Trans Japan Alps Race.
The Course
This race takes place in the Japanese Alps mountains. And the total length is a whopping 415 kms!
While the view is surely great, it is one of the most demanding races ever. Here are some of the rules
- You have to finish within 8 days
- You can’t use any camping gear
- You can’t have any accompanying guides or coaches or receive any food/ water from friends or family
The physical excursion is so extreme, and at such high altitude, that most runners would hallucinate due to stress and lack of sleep.
And you know the most interesting part of the race? there is absolutely no prize for the winner.
