Action cures fear
Day 261 / 365
While going through my wallet today I found this old note. I had written a lot of this at the start of this year when I was reading a book about motivation. I have only this one left now, but over the past few months, I have found that these three words are more powerful than any other motivational quote you will find out there.
What it means is simple. Are you worried about something? The easiest way to get out of it is to just take action. There is no problem you can’t solve by taking action. And the corollary is true as well, without taking action you can’t solve any problem.
But that’s not the best part about it. We have a tendency to overestimate the negative outcomes. We are worried about the hundred ways we might fail, and we firmly believe each of those outcomes is possible. Most of the times these worries never materialize. These are unnecessary worries, you are making it all up in your head. Taking action helps you to get rid of these immediately. Even if you fail, you’ll at least know that you tried your best.
Taking action creates a feedback loop, even a smallest action would snowball into something big. You will do something, you will get a little closer to your goal, a little less worried and as a result, would be motivated to do even more.
God provides the wind, but man must raise the sails.
